As the name suggests, a polymer blend is produced by mixing of two or more polymers. Polymer blends are classified according to the physical properties of their constituents as plastic, thermoplastic, elastomer and more.
PC+ABS (Polycarbonate+ABS) is one of the most widely used industrial thermoplastics. PC+ABS offers the most desirable properties of both materials – the superior strength and heat resistance of PC and the flexibility of ABS. PC+ABS blends are commonly used in automotive, electronics and telecommunications applications.
Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) and Polyamide based thermoplastic polymer blend that offers low moisture absorption and good dimensional stability of the ABS component and good mechanical properties of the nylon component.
Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) and Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) are commercial polymers with various applications. The blending of PET and PBT has the advantage of fast crystallization of PBT and relatively cheaper PET which makes the blend cost effective (as PET is less expensive compared to PBT). They find their application in Fibre, Packaging etc.
